Welcome to the Wonder Junction VBS Volunteer Team!
Thank you for your interest in serving at Wonder Junction VBS 2025! Our volunteers play a crucial role in creating a fun, faith-filled experience for children and youth. Before signing up, please take note of the following commitments:
- Training is required for all volunteers. Participation in all scheduled training sessions is essential to ensure a smooth and successful VBS.
- Background Checks: All volunteers 18 and older must have a completed and cleared background check to serve. If you have not completed one, you will not be able to participate.
- Commitment Agreement: By signing up, you agree to fulfill your role to the best of your ability. However, we understand that emergencies happen. If you are unable to serve, please contact Ashley Schlimmer as soon as possible at 239-450-9072 or arschlim88@gmail.com so we can adjust accordingly.
- Arrival Time: All volunteers are expected to arrive at 5:00 PM each evening to ensure we are prepared before the children arrive.
Below are brief descriptions of the areas of volunteering we need fulfilled, please read through before you pick an option on the volunteer page. Reminder, for our high school and college volunteers: we give 50 community service hours for those that help out!

Team Leaders (9 positions, age 16+)
- Role: Lead a small group of kids through the daily activities of VBS.
- Expectations:
- Ensure kids stay together and transition smoothly between stations.
- Build relationships, encourage participation, and be a godly influence.
- Assist in bathroom breaks and minor needs.
- Help with memory verse review and encourage active listening during Bible time.
- Be an energetic and positive role model.
Assistant Team Leaders (9 positions, age 14+)
- Role: Support Team Leaders in guiding groups through activities.
- Expectations:
- Assist with transitions between stations.
- Help manage kids' behavior and participation.
- Reinforce memory verses and Bible themes.
Elementary Station Leader – High Point Bible Time (1 position, adult)
- Role: Lead the Bible teaching time for 1st-5th grade.
- Expectations:
- Responsible for decorating classroom and ordering all supplies
- Present Bible lessons in an engaging, interactive way.
- Ensure all children are focused and learning.
- Work with the assistant to pass out materials and guide discussions.
- Tie in daily themes with biblical truths.
Assistant – High Point Bible Time (1 position, age 16+)
- Role: Support the Bible Time Leader.
- Expectations:
- Help distribute materials.
- Encourage kids to participate and pay attention.
- Reinforce Bible lesson points through discussions.
Elementary Station Leader – Carpenter Joe’s Science & Crafts (1 position, adult)
- Role: Lead the hands-on craft and science activity for 1st-5th grade.
- Expectations:
- Responsible for decorating classroom and ordering all supplies
- Explain and demonstrate crafts/science experiments.
- Keep materials organized and ensure smooth transitions.
- Reinforce the daily Bible theme through the activity.
- Supervise cleanup and ensure safety.
Assistant – Carpenter Joe’s Science & Crafts (1 position, age 16+)
- Role: Help the leader with crafts and science experiments.
- Expectations:
- Prepare and distribute materials.
- Assist children as they complete their activities.
- Help with cleanup and organization.
Elementary Station Leader – Gallopin’ Gabe’s Games (1 position, age 16+)
- Role: Lead outdoor/indoor games for 1st-5th grade.
- Expectations:
- Organize and explain games that reinforce Bible themes.
- Ensure all children are engaged and playing safely.
- Keep supplies organized and maintain a fun, encouraging atmosphere.
Assistant – Gallopin’ Gabe’s Games (1 position, age 16+)
- Role: Support the Games Leader.
- Expectations:
- Help set up, run, and clean up games.
- Encourage kids and ensure fair play.
Pre-VBS Dinner Leader (1 position, adult)
- Role: Oversee the Pre-VBS Dinner each night.
- Expectations:
- Plan and coordinate a menu for the week.
- Order and manage food supplies.
- Organize volunteers and oversee meal preparation.
- Ensure setup by 5:30 PM and coordinate cleanup.
Pre-VBS Dinner Helpers (4 positions, age 16+)
- Role: Assist the Dinner Leader in meal preparation and serving.
- Expectations:
- Help with setting up and plating food.
- Ensure all kids are served.
- Assist with cleanup and preparing for the next day.
- Help set up by 5:30 PM each night.
Registration Team Leader (1 position, adult)
- Role: Oversee the check-in and registration process.
- Expectations:
- Manage the registration table and track attendance.
- Ensure new visitors are welcomed and properly checked in.
- Direct parents with questions.
Registration Team Helpers (2 positions, adult)
- Role: Support the Registration Leader in check-in and welcoming families.
- Expectations:
- Assist with checking kids in/out.
- Answer basic parent questions.
- Help distribute name tags and information.
Photographer (1 position, age 16+)
- Role: Capture moments throughout the week.
- Expectations:
- Take action shots of kids and volunteers during activities.
- Ensure all key events are documented.
- Edit and organize photos for the church to use.
Pre-K/Kindergarten Program Director (1 position, adult)
- Role: Oversee the Pre-K/Kindergarten program for ages 3-6.
- Expectations:
- Decorate the Pre-K/K classrooms and order all material.
- Develop a schedule and structure for daily activities.
- Ensure all Pre-K/K leaders are equipped with materials and instructions.
- Supervise and support Crew Leaders, Bible Time, Crafts, and Games Leaders.
- Communicate with parents and assist with any issues that arise.
- Ensure a safe, engaging, and faith-filled environment for young children.
Pre-K/Kindergarten Crew Leaders (4 positions, age 18+)
- Role: Guide a small group of Pre-K/Kindergarten children through activities.
- Expectations:
- Provide a nurturing and structured environment.
- Help children transition between stations smoothly.
- Assist with snack time, memory verse practice, and restroom breaks.
- Encourage participation and create a positive experience.
Pre-K/Kindergarten Crew Assistant Leaders (4 positions, age 16+)
- Role: Support Crew Leaders in managing Pre-K/K groups.
- Expectations:
- Help with transitions and child supervision.
- Assist with crafts, games, and Bible lessons as needed.
- Provide extra attention to children who need guidance.
Pre-K/Kindergarten Leader – High Point Bible Time (1 position, adult)
- Role: Teach Bible lessons to Pre-K/Kindergarten children.
- Expectations:
- Present Bible stories in an engaging, age-appropriate way.
- Use visuals, songs, and interactive storytelling to reinforce lessons.
- Keep children engaged and focused.
- Collaborate with helpers to distribute materials and maintain a structured environment.
Pre-K/Kindergarten Helper – High Point Bible Time (2 positions, age 16+)
- Role: Assist the High Point Bible Time Leader.
- Expectations:
- Help with props, crafts, and lesson activities.
- Encourage children to participate and stay attentive.
- Provide additional support to children who need extra help.
Pre-K/Kindergarten Leader – Carpenter Joe’s Science & Crafts (1 position, adult)
- Role: Lead craft and science activities for Pre-K/Kindergarten.
- Expectations:
- Explain activities in a simple, engaging way.
- Ensure children are following instructions and staying on task.
- Reinforce the day’s Bible theme through hands-on learning.
Pre-K/Kindergarten Helper – Carpenter Joe’s Science & Crafts (1 position, age 16+)
- Role: Assist the Carpenter Joe’s Leader with crafts and science projects.
- Expectations:
- Help set up and distribute materials.
- Guide children through their activities and encourage creativity.
- Assist with cleanup and organizing materials for the next day.
Pre-K/Kindergarten Leader – Gallopin’ Gabe’s Games (1 position, adult)
- Role: Lead Pre-K/K children in fun, faith-based games.
- Expectations:
- Organize and run simple, age-appropriate games.
- Ensure all children participate in a safe and fun way.
- Tie games into the daily Bible lesson when possible.
Pre-K/Kindergarten Helper – Gallopin’ Gabe’s Games (1 position, age 16+)
- Role: Support the Games Leader during activity time.
- Expectations:
- Assist with setup and transitions between games.
- Help children understand and follow game rules.
- Ensure fair play and encourage all kids to participate.
Open & Closing Assembly Team (2 positions)
- Role: Help lead the large-group gatherings at the beginning and end of each VBS day.
- Expectations:
- Assist with opening prayer, worship, announcements, and drama elements.
- Help coordinate transitions from assembly to group activities.
- Support the closing assembly, including contest announcements and dismissal.
Tech Crew (3 positions, age 16+)
- Role: Manage audio, video, and lighting for VBS programs.
- Expectations:
- Set up and run microphones, video presentations, and music.
- Ensure smooth transitions during assemblies and presentations.
- Troubleshoot any technical issues that arise.
Youth Group Director (1 position, adult)
- Role: Lead the Youth VBS program for middle schoolers.
- Expectations:
- Develop and oversee age-appropriate Bible lessons and activities.
- Encourage meaningful discussions and faith-building experiences.
- Coordinate with assistants and volunteers to facilitate smooth transitions and engagement.
Youth Group Assistant (1 position, age 18+)
- Role: Support the Youth Group Director.
- Expectations:
- Help manage group dynamics and participation.
- Assist with activities, discussions, and transitions.
- Provide additional support for students who need encouragement.
